Skills Developing Courses
Empowering Tradition: Kente Weaving at Our School
Our school recognizes the importance of preserving cultural heritage and passing it down to future generations. Kente weaving is not just an art form; it’s a connection to history, a celebration of diversity, and a bridge to understanding and appreciation. By teaching Kente weaving, we aim to instill in our students a deep respect for cultural traditions and the skills to create beautiful, meaningful art.In our Kente weaving program, students have the opportunity to engage in hands-on learning. They are introduced to the techniques, history, and symbolism behind Kente weaving. Through this immersive experience, students not only develop their artistic skills but also gain a profound appreciation for the cultural significance of this art form.
Our dedication to teaching agriculture
Our school recognizes that education extends far beyond the classroom walls. It encompasses a deep understanding of the natural world, sustainable practices, and the vital role of agriculture in feeding communities and protecting the environment. Through our fish farming and agriculture programs, we offer students a holistic education that combines academic knowledge with hands-on experiences. These programs help our students learn not only the practical skills required for fish farming and agriculture but also the values of responsibility, sustainability, and environmental stewardship. They gain insights into the delicate balance between human activities and the natural world, and they discover how to contribute to the well-being of both.Under agriculture program, students are trained to farm to feed themselves and sell the excess produce to support the school’s operations. The students are trained in vegetable gardening, fish farming, the growing of cereals, livestock and poultry production.
Empowering the Digital Generation with ICT Teaching
The school also has an ICT program run by the students in providing computer training to deprived local community schools that has no access to computers, under the school’s community service program.
In the digital age, technology is not just a tool; it’s the driving force behind innovation, communication, and progress. At The Northern College Of Science and technology, we recognize the paramount importance of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in preparing our students for the complexities of the modern world. We aim to produce graduates who are not only proficient in technology but also creative problem solvers, critical thinkers, and effective communicators.
